Morel Mushroom Pizza - GF
Saturday, May 24, 2014
This is the last for the morel mushroom recipes that I've tried this year. I've heard from several people that this is their favorite way of adding morels to a meal. Partially because you can freeze the morels depending on if you have too much to be able to eat fresh and the other part is because it's just pure deliciousness. Especially if you dip it in some garlic butter sauce! ;) Which just happens to be a favorite to do with any pizza with my family.
I'm really excited that it's Memorial Day weekend because this weekend Adam and I are heading up to Portage, WI to my grandma's farm to get some wood boards. This will make for some pretty surfaces for my photographs! I've also recently splurged on a piece of slate as well which I've been wanting forever! So, I just had to mention this so you all can be on the look out for these items in the near future.
INGREDIENTS:
- Bob's Redmill Gluten Free Pizza Mix
- 1 egg white
- 1 tsp basil = 1 tbsp fresh basil
- 1 tsp parsley = 1 tbsp fresh parsley
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic
- salt & pepper to preference
- Morels
- 1/2 -1 lb. Gruyere cheese
- 1/2 lb. Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Follow the directions on the package of Bob's Redmill Gluten Free Pizza Mix. Do this an hour or more before you plan on baking the pizza because it will need time to rise.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees before you start putting the pizza together.
- Once dough has risen knead a little bit more if needed then roll out to desired shape, size and thickness onto a pizza pan. I like to make mine a 1/4" thick or so. We used only have of the amount of dough for this pizza and used the other half of dough for the kids pizza. So this pizza will feed around 3 people or so.
- In a small bowl add the egg white and all of the herbs and seasonings. You can use either dried or fresh herbs.
- Whisk together until the edge around the bowl becomes a little frothy.
- Pour this into the middle of your pizza dough and spread around evenly with a brush.
- Slice Morels in half or quarters depending on size.
- Place the Morels on top of the white pizza sauce then the Gruyere cheese on top of the Morels. Feel free to add some Parmesan on there as well if you don't want to use just one type of cheese.
- Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the edges of the cheese become golden brown.
- Enjoy!
